(Player Details)

Dermot Gallagher of Banbury was the Referee in front of the largest crowd of the season. They contributed over £300,000 which was all donated to local charities. There were many changes to both teams as many players, old and and young, played their part for both sides, managed by Kevin Blackwell and Howard Wilkinson for Leeds and Sam Allardyce for the World XI and those players included Lucas Radebe, Matthew Kilgallon, Clyde Wijnhard, Gary MaAllister and Gunnar Halle. The changes started as early as the twenty-second minute as Tony Yeboah replaced Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink and Aaron Lennon came on for Phil Masinga. Eleven minutes later Lennon opened the scoring after Bruce Grobbelaar had failed to hold on to a shot from Gary McAllister after Gordon Strachan had supplied him with the chance. Before the World XI had a chance to restart the game Vinnie Jones took the field and the captain's armband from the departing forty-eight year-old Gordon Strachan. Mario Melchiot equalized a few minutes later and just before half-time Norwegian John Carew gave them the lead. After half time, Lucas Radebe and Matthew Kilgallon exchanged teams and Gary McAllister and Clyde Wijnhard similarly reversed their allegiances, while Gunnar Halle switched to the World XI as Olivier Dacourt finished his stint along with Mario Melchiot and Doctor Khumalo who were replaced by Sam Allardyce's Assistant Manager at Bolton Wanderers, Phil Brown, and Ally McCoist respectively. Leeds also brought on Seth Johnson for Gunnar Halle and Neil Sullivan took over in goal from Nigel Martyn. After fifty-five minutes Tony Yeboah was replaced by Frazer Richardson. Then, after Gary Kelly had tripped Lucas Radebe in the penalty area, the Chief took the penalty himself to make the score 3-1 in the sixty-sixth minute and Leeds brought on the Leeds United's Ladies captain Luci Ward in place of Gary Speed. Two minutes later she showed good skills to make a run on goal and slot the ball past Bruce Grobelaar to make the score 3-2. After seventy minutes Chris Kamara replaced Gary Kelly and the floodgates opened with a torrent of goals. Two minutes later Ally McCoist made it 4-2 and after seventy-eight minutes Gunnar Halle made it 5-2, McCoist scored his second seven minutes later before a beautiful ball from Luci Ward put Matthew Kilgallon through with a clear path to goal and he rounded the move off with a well disguised lob over the keeper after eighty-eight minutes. But the night belonged to Lucas Radebe and he finished off the goalscoring with his second with a minute to go.
